Switzerland is once again the innovation leader in Europe

Switzerland is the innovation leader in Europe – ahead of all 27 EU states. This is the result of a report published by the EU Commission on Monday.

According to the report, Switzerland performed best in all indicators used for the ranking. These include the attractive research system and well-trained workforce. Another indicator is digitalization. Among other things, the digital skills of the population are assessed. Here, too, Switzerland scores well. Sweden – in second place behind Switzerland – also has a well-trained workforce and an attractive research system.

However, the report also highlights the strong use of ICT (the information and communication technologies). Among other things, it measures whether companies offer IT training to their employees or how many IT specialists are in the country.

In addition to Switzerland and Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Belgium are other so-called “innovation leaders.” Iceland, Israel, Norway and the United Kingdom are described as “strong innovators” in the report.
