Aarenet’s AI powered call filter against unwanted calls

Aarenet, in collaboration with katia.ch, offers an Artificial Intelligence powered call filtering system to block unwanted and bulk phone calls – especially those from telemarketers. The solution combines known spam number databases, operator-specific lists, and AI-based real-time analysis of call behavior.

In collaboration with katia.ch, Aarenet has implemented an AI-powered call filtering solution to effectively combat unwanted calls. When activated, the filter significantly reduces nuisance calls – particularly those generated by telemarketers.

Traffic analyses reveal that a high number of incoming calls are attributed to unwanted sources, including auto-dialer bots from telemarketers, advertising campaigns, and foreign-originated nuisance calls. The call filter provided by katia.ch leverages a comprehensive database of publicly known spam numbers, enhanced by real-time call pattern analysis from connected systems.

This dynamically updated list is seamlessly synchronized with the Aarenet switching platform. Incoming calls identified as suspicious can be automatically blocked or forwarded to a generic voicemail, preventing disruption to end users.

The filtering mechanism combines multiple intelligence sources including known malicious numbers from various databases, operator-specific spam lists, and AI-driven analysis of live call behavior. By continuously evaluating actual call patterns, the system can also detect number changes used by call centers, ensuring that new spam attempts are identified and integrated to the call filter without delay.

Aarenet and katia.ch have been working together since 2017 and the solution is implemented and active across the majority of Aarenet’s productive systems in Europe. With the addition of AI-powered enhancements, the solution has become even more robust, delivering substantially improved protection against unwanted calls. Analysis showed that with the active call filter up to 30% of all incoming call traffic will be blocked, resulting in a noticeably cleaner and more reliable calling experience.

New Aarenet Cloud PBX Software Release 7.23

The Aarenet Cloud PBX Software Release 7.23 has been approved for general availability effective January 1, 2026. As of now, all newly deployed systems will be commissioned with this software release. A seamless upgrade path is available for existing installations, ensuring no disruption to active services.

The Aarenet Cloud PBX Software Release 7.23 has been approved for general availability effective January 1, 2026. As of now, all newly deployed systems will be commissioned with this software release. A seamless upgrade path is available for existing installations, ensuring no disruption to active services.

During the second half of 2025, numerous new features were developed and integrated into the anOne Desktop application for Windows and macOS. These enhancements include significant user experience improvements and additional functionality to support daily operations and a browser extension feature to enable usage of the client without the need to install the software. Presence status information is now displayed during contact searches, providing immediate visibility into whether a contact is available, away, or currently on a call. Additionally, video calls now support seamless background blurring, offering improved privacy and greater flexibility in managing visible surroundings.

The integration of the Swagger framework introduces a standardized description of the integrated REST API, enabling external systems to interpret its structure. Based on the OpenAPI Specification, this integration defines API endpoints, parameters, and responses, supporting interactive documentation and automated code generation for external solution developers. In version 7.23, this description provides access to core database tables and instances.

Support has been added to the autoprovisioning toolkit for Yealink W75B and W75DM multi-cell DECT systems, along with integration of the SNOM M400 small multi-cell DECT solution. These additions enable cost-effective deployment of cordless services in small and medium-sized enterprise environments. Also, to support new partners in Poland, Polish language translations were added for the portal and client applications, alongside improved and extended French system language translations.

Integration of the HID standard for audio devices enables call control functionality via headset and peripheral device buttons. This standard allows users to answer or end calls, mute microphones, and perform other call actions while away from their desks using HID-compatible headsets. Supported devices are available from manufacturers including SNOM, Yealink, Poly, Dell, JBL, Microsoft, Logitech, Bang & Olufsen, Shokz, and AKG.

Detailed information on all features included in the actual software release is available upon request.

Swiss Providers Embrace Aarenet’s CloudPBX as Demand Grows

Swiss Providers Embrace Aarenet’s CloudPBX as Demand Grows

Over recent months, Aarenet has seen rising demand for its CloudPBX solution across the Swiss telecom market. This reflects a broader industry shift toward scalable, flexible, and cost-effective cloud communications.

To meet this momentum, Aarenet plans a major CloudPBX expansion in 2025, featuring a new Unified Communications (UC) suite aimed at enhancing collaboration and productivity for businesses of all sizes.

CloudPBX is a fully managed, user-friendly platform that offers modern PBX essentials—voicemail, call forwarding, and mobile access—alongside advanced features like intelligent call routing, IVR, and cross-device connectivity. It also integrates smoothly with existing infrastructure and supports SIP trunking, making it ideal for service providers looking to expand without backend complexity.

Swiss providers such as EW Buchs and Sasag already use Aarenet’s CloudPBX, reporting benefits like simplified maintenance, lower overhead, and faster service deployment. The system is built on a multi-tenant infrastructure and hosted in a secure Swiss data center on dedicated infrastructure and managed by the support center based in Switzerland. In recent months, traction with new customers outside Switzerland has been visible thanks to the system’s flexibility and international readiness.

Frank Remmers, Aarenet’s VP of Product Management, emphasizes the platform’s simplicity. “We’ve focused on features users actually need, which shortens setup time and improves usability compared to older, feature-heavy PBX systems,” he explains.

This focus on ease of use extends to configuration and setup, a key factor in customer adoption. The 2025 release will add presence-based messaging, group chat, video calls, and Office 365 integration—transforming CloudPBX into a full collaboration hub for hybrid and remote work.

Aarenet continues to expand its partner network. With the upcoming UC Suite, even more resellers are expected to become part of the Aarenet ecosystem.

Whether you’re expanding your portfolio or seeking a modern communications platform, Aarenet’s CloudPBX is a smart choice. For more details or partnership info, contact your Aarenet Account Manager.

Aarenet introduces SDK for the CloudPBX Platform

Aarenet introduces SDK for the CloudPBX Platform

Aarenet announced the availability of our new Software Development Kit (SDK) – a comprehensive toolkit designed to empower customers, partners, integrators, and third-party developers to harness the full potential of our carrier-grade virtual PBX (VPBX) solution. At the heart of our SDK a robust set of APIs is provided, enriched with clear documentation and reference code. With this information, it is possible to bring voice and messaging capabilities directly into any web, desktop, or mobile application.

In today’s connected and fast-paced world, communication tools must be seamlessly embedded into digital experiences – independent if it is for customer engagement, remote collaboration, or connecting citizens with public services. Aarenet’s SDK makes all of this possible – securely, reliably, and with the proven performance of an underlying carrier-grade infrastructure.

Some examples of Real-World Use Cases are:

  • Citizen Apps – Local governments can empower residents with secure, context-aware communication channels to reach the right authority – fast and effectively.
  • Remote Consultations – Healthcare providers, consultants, and support professionals can connect with their clients from within familiar platforms.
  • Loyalty & Engagement Apps – Communication options can adapt to user context. Whether it’s based on customer status, app usage, or location – every interaction becomes more personal and more valuable.
  • Custom Clients – Aarenet’s own UC client “anOne” is built entirely using the SDK. Partners can create localized, branded, or customer-specific clients, tailored to individual market or business requirements.

The possibilities using the SDK are endless, only limited by the creative energy of the development community. One can imagine an airline app where high-status passengers are presented with a “Need Support?” button – instantly connecting them with a support agent who knows their journey and associated traveller’s profile. The SDK toolkit is a true value-added service, and customers can monetize it to enhance customer loyalty and satisfaction.

By opening-up the VPBX platform to enable the integration with third party developed applications, Aarenet is enabling a new wave of innovation and flexibility. Whether extending an existing product or building something entirely new, the SDK provides the tools to embed carrier-grade communications into an existing solution with ease. More information on the SKD toolkit can be provided upon request to shape the future of communications together.
